Discussion Prompt
Once you have selected a PICOT question discuss your strategies for conducting a systematic search/review of the literature in order to answer your question.
Appraising the Literature-
Explain how you will critically appraise the literature you have selected to determine the best evidence for this assignment.
" name="description">The critical appraisal of literature aims to determine the quality of evidence to be synthesized during the review of the literature (Long et al., 2020 Analysis on the Threats Defense Argument). The selected literature will be critically appraised to develop sufficient evidence to answer the selected PICOT question. The first step in the critical appraisal of the evidence in the selected literature will be to identify the research question guiding the research presented in the literature and the study design adopted to answer the question. At this step, I will check whether the research question and study design are clear and relevant to the topic. To determine if the research question has been adequately answered and also appraise the quality of evidence presented in the literature, I will analyze the quality of each of the study’s methodologies. Methodological quality legitimizes study and ensures the development of valid and reliable scientific evidence (Ma et al., 2020).
The next step will be to assess the study’s results to ensure that they are meaningful and add value to answering the PICOT question I have selected. The study must have a high degree of internal validity as well as external validity. In this case, I will ensure that the study has adequately measured its objectives and that its findings can be generalized across the general population. It will also be important to consider any limitations identified by the researcher and how they may have affected the evidence present. Additionally, I will compare each of the selected study’s evidence with other valid evidence related to my PICOT question and consider how each article, based on the evidence, is relevant to my project’s topic.
